What Is Maambo?
Maambo is a peer to peer non clinical platform built on the simple truth: life feels lighter when you talk to someone who truly gets you. Talk with real people who have lived your experiences via video or voice call. We are real people with real stories. If you are carrying something alone, Maambo gives you a warm, safe space to feel immediately understood. You are not alone, your best friend is Maambo.

Our Peer Mentors
They are not therapists. They are real people, the kind you wish you could call at 2am when your mind won’t switch off.
When you talk to someone who has been cheated on, burned out, blindsided, overwhelmed or stuck in the same emotional fog you are in, something powerful happens: you feel understood instantly.
That’s what you are paying for speed, understanding, relevance and emotional fit.
Therapy often analyses you.
Friends often minimise you.
Maambo meets you.
Our mentors aren’t here to diagnose, fix or judge. They are here to offer the one thing modern life has quietly stolen from us: a real human who listens from lived experience, not theory.
And yes it’s private. No numbers exchanged, no personal details shared. Just a confidential space where what you say stays exactly where it belongs.
Real people. Real talk. Real support.

Poppy
Personal Growth & Support, Dating & Relationships (Women's Perspective), Motherhood & Single Moms, Loneliness & Finding Belonging, Friendship & Social Dynamics, Family Relationship
Raised in the storm of my parents’ mental health struggles, I became their rock, their anchor before I even knew how to carry my own weight. No childhood, just a crash course in survival. But that storm didn’t break me, it built me. I’m now a qualified mental health professional, turning pain into power. If you’re tired of being the strong one, I see you. Let’s rise from the pressure, shake off the shame, and step into healing together.

Luna
Personal Growth & Support, Dating & Relationships (Women's Perspective), Motherhood & Single Moms, Loneliness & Finding Belonging, Friendship & Social Dynamics, Family Relationship
I’ve battled Crohn’s, made peace with sobriety, and taken the scenic (and chaotic) route to spiritual growth. Healing doesn’t always look like therapy, sometimes it’s just a real conversation with someone who gets it. With a background in psychology, holistic health, and coaching, I offer a grounded, no-pressure space to breathe, vent, laugh, or cry. You’re not broken, you’re becoming. I’m here for the messy middle.

Emma
Personal Growth & Support, Education-Career & Professional Advice, Dating & Relationships (Women's Perspective), Loneliness & Finding Belonging, Family Relationship
Grew up with neglect, faced homelessness as a teen, survived divorce, and learned to fight for my voice. I’ve lived what many only study. Now, with a background in Psychology and Counselling, I support young women facing life’s chaos in personal, academic, or emotional situations. You don’t need to be “fixed” you need to be seen. I’m here to walk with you, remind you of your strength, and help you rise. This isn’t your end. It’s your comeback. Let’s go!

Maambo works because real life experience creates a shortcut to understanding real human problems that no degree can replicate.
You are paying for:
-
Someone who can say “I’ve been through that, here’s what helped me”
-
Someone emotionally neutral (not a friend who will spread the gossip)
-
Someone who has stood where you are standing today
-
A private, confidential space to finally drop the weight and be yourself
You are not paying for expertise. You are paying for relief and understanding.
When life gets heavy, the most valuable person in the room isn’t the one with the university degres it’s the one who truly understands what it felt like.
Reviews
I had been feeling so alone after my breakup. Everyone kept telling me to “move on,” but no one really understood what that meant for me. My Maambo session with Emma changed everything. She had also been through almost the exact same thing. There was no judgement, just honesty and empathy. I got off that call lighter, like I could finally breathe again.
Claire from Leeds.
Incredible starting to feel lighter and my loved ones are starting my to notice the difference in me slowly too which is really lovely I had an instant connection and Poppy just so lovely and really gentle too I feel so comfortable
Harriet from Bristol
Didn’t fancy therapy. I just needed somewhere to vent. The maambo call felt more like chatting to a mate down the pub, who actually had useful stuff to say. Just proper talk that helped me sort my head out.
Darren from Guilford
Going through a divorce is isolating in ways I never expected.
I feel judged by my friends. I really needed someone to would understand me. My Maambo mentor had lived through something similar, and that changed everything.
I could say the things I felt guilty saying out loud.
From the first conversation I began to feel steady again and more like myself.
Anna from London
I was always on Tinder. Numerous dates but got no real connection. Maambo helped me realise I wasn't looking for love, i was looking to get my ego boosted. My mentor Lucy didn't judge me she listened and helped me understand why I was so lonely in spite of having many dates.

What is Maambo?
Maambo is a social talking platform that connects you with mentors who offer real-life advice based on their own experiences—not clinical therapy. It's about relatable, honest guidance when you need it most.
Is Maambo a therapy platform?
No. Maambo is not therapy, and our mentors are not licensed therapists. Therapy is delivered by trained clinicians who provide medical or psychological treatment. Maambo is different, our mentors are everyday people who have lived through challenges themselves. Each mentor is trained to listen with empathy, understands the importance of clear boundaries, and knows how to share their experiences in a safe and supportive way.
Who are the peer mentors?
Our mentors are individuals aged 18+ who have valuable life experiences to share. They’re compassionate, open-minded, and come from diverse backgrounds to reflect real-world perspectives.
How do I book a session?
You can either choose a mentor yourself or let us match you based on your preferences. Then, simply pick a date and time that works for you and join via Zoom.
What if I don’t click with my mentor?
No worries! We understand not every connection clicks. You can choose a different mentor for your next session, and we welcome your feedback to improve your experience.
Is Maambo available outside the UK?
Right now, Maambo is focused on UK users and mentors, but we’re exploring international expansion soon. Stay tuned!
