What Is Maambo?
Maambo is a peer to peer non clinical platform built on the simple truth: life feels lighter when you talk to someone who truly gets you. Talk with real people who have lived your experiences via video or voice call. We are real people with real stories. If you are carrying something alone, Maambo gives you a warm, safe space to feel immediately understood. You are not alone, your best friend is Maambo.

Our Peer Mentors
They are not therapists. They are real people, the kind you wish you could call at 2am when your mind won’t switch off.
When you talk to someone who has been cheated on, burned out, blindsided, overwhelmed or stuck in the same emotional fog you are in, something powerful happens: you feel understood instantly.
That’s what you are paying for speed, understanding, relevance and emotional fit.
Therapy often analyses you.
Friends often minimise you.
Maambo meets you.
Our mentors aren’t here to diagnose, fix or judge. They are here to offer the one thing modern life has quietly stolen from us: a real human who listens from lived experience, not theory.
And yes it’s private. No numbers exchanged, no personal details shared. Just a confidential space where what you say stays exactly where it belongs.
Real people. Real talk. Real support.

Poppy
Personal Growth & Support, Dating & Relationships (Women's Perspective), Loneliness & Finding Belonging, Friendship & Social Dynamics, Family Relationship
Raised in the chaos of neurodiversity and mental health struggles I became an adult before my years. This fuelled my enthusiasm to develop myself, I studied and trained as a CBT therapist. I have BABCP accreditation and 9 years of experience working in various mental health settings, reinforced by the challenges of life through burnout, heartache and independence. I understand how often we mask our feelings at the fear of exposure. I know the repercussions of bottling things up and spinning many plates at the same time. Take a step back, breathe and let’s unpick this together. Self- reflection is empowering.

Luna
Personal Growth & Support, Dating & Relationships (Women's Perspective), Motherhood & Single Moms, Loneliness & Finding Belonging, Friendship & Social Dynamics, Family Relationship
I’ve battled Crohn’s, made peace with sobriety, and taken the scenic (and chaotic) route to spiritual growth. Healing doesn’t always look like therapy, sometimes it’s just a real conversation with someone who gets it. With a background in psychology, holistic health, and coaching, I offer a grounded, no-pressure space to breathe, vent, laugh, or cry. You’re not broken, you’re becoming. I’m here for the messy middle.

Emma
Personal Growth & Support, Education-Career & Professional Advice, Dating & Relationships (Women's Perspective), Loneliness & Finding Belonging, Family Relationship
9 years experience within education, trained to support children and their families alongside a background in psychology and counselling. I thrive in supporting and empowering individuals to achieve the best possible outcome for themselves. I recognise that the routine of small everyday wins are what leads us to contentment. Through growing up with neglect, facing homelessness as a teenager, and surviving divorce I have gained a deep understanding of how we can successfully navigate life's chaos and really trust ourselves.

Reviews
“As a dad, you are expected to just handle everything. Work pressure, school issues, keeping it all together at home. I didn’t want therapy just needed to talk to someone who understood what it’s like to carry it all quietly.
My Maambo conversation felt like speaking to someone who genuinely ‘got it’. No judgement. No awkwardness. I left feeling lighter and clearer.”
James, Father of Two
“Co-parenting can feel incredibly isolating. You are constantly balancing emotions, logistics and your children’s wellbeing often while swallowing your own feelings.
Speaking to someone on Maambo who had navigated co-parenting themselves made all the difference. It wasn’t advice from a textbook. It was lived experience which I now appreciate so much more. I felt heard in a way I hadn’t before.”
Sarah, Mum & Co-Parent
“When I was diagnosed with lung cancer, everything changed overnight. The appointments, the terminology, the fear but what surprised me most was how alone I felt.
I needed to talk to someone who understood what it’s like to sit with that news and still show up for your family.
My Maambo conversation gave me something I didn’t realise I was missing. Which was steady, human understanding. It didn’t take the diagnosis away, but it made it feel less isolating.”
David, Recently Diagnosed
Going through a divorce is isolating in ways I never expected.
I feel judged by my friends. I really needed someone to would understand me. My Maambo mentor had lived through something similar, and that changed everything.
I could say the things I felt guilty saying out loud.
From the first conversation I began to feel steady again and more like myself.

I was always on Tinder. Numerous dates but got no real connection. Maambo helped me realise I wasn't looking for love, i was looking to get my ego boosted. My mentor Lucy didn't judge me she listened and helped me understand why I was so lonely in spite of having many dates.

What is Maambo?
Maambo is a social talking platform that connects you with mentors who offer real-life advice based on their own experiences—not clinical therapy. It's about relatable, honest guidance when you need it most.
Is Maambo a therapy platform?
No. Maambo is not therapy, and our mentors are not licensed therapists. Therapy is delivered by trained clinicians who provide medical or psychological treatment. Maambo is different, our mentors are everyday people who have lived through challenges themselves. Each mentor is trained to listen with empathy, understands the importance of clear boundaries, and knows how to share their experiences in a safe and supportive way.
Who are the peer mentors?
Our mentors are individuals aged 18+ who have valuable life experiences to share. They’re compassionate, open-minded, and come from diverse backgrounds to reflect real-world perspectives.
How do I book a session?
You can either choose a mentor yourself or let us match you based on your preferences. Then, simply pick a date and time that works for you and join via Zoom.
What if I don’t click with my mentor?
No worries! We understand not every connection clicks. You can choose a different mentor for your next session, and we welcome your feedback to improve your experience.
Is Maambo available outside the UK?
Right now, Maambo is focused on UK users and mentors, but we’re exploring international expansion soon. Stay tuned!
