Talk to Someone Who Has Actually Been There.
Maambo matches you with a trained mentor who has lived through what you are facing be it loneliness, grief, divorce, burnout, parenting, chronic illness, relationship problems or other life challenges. Not therapy just someone who understands. 100% confidential, No judgement.
What Is Maambo?
Maambo is a peer to peer support platform that connects people to trained mentors who have relevant lived experience. Unlike therapy or coaching, Maambo is built on the power of lived experience. Our carefully selected mentors have overcome challenges in their own lives. They are trained to provide a safe, confidential space where you can talk openly, feel understood and know you are not alone.

Our Peer Mentors
They are not therapists. They are real people who have faced life's toughest moments and come through them.
Every mentor has relevant lived experience, has been carefully vetted, identity verified, criminal record checked and trained before joining Maambo.
They are not here to diagnose, judge or tell you what to do. They are here to listen, understand and share the perspective that only someone who has been there can offer.
Everything you discuss is private and confidential. No exchanging phone numbers. No sharing personal contact details. Just a safe space to talk openly with someone who genuinely understands.
Real people. Real conversations. Real understanding.

Raised in the chaos of neurodiversity and mental health struggles I became an adult before my years. This fuelled my enthusiasm to develop myself, I studied and trained as a CBT therapist. I have BABCP accreditation and 9 years of experience working in various mental health settings, reinforced by the challenges of life through burnout, heartache and independence. I understand how often we mask our feelings at the fear of exposure. I know the repercussions of bottling things up and spinning many plates at the same time. Take a step back, breathe and let’s unpick this together. Self- reflection is empowering.

I worked in a role that brought me face to face with people in crisis on a daily basis. Many of those crises related to a loss of sense of self. This meant a direct impact on person values, identity and purpose. Most people in life listen to respond, often with good intentions trying to be helpful and problem solve. However, it is often the case that real issues lay deeper than under the surface, and my strength is in listening to understand, not to respond. I help people to try to make sense of where they are right now, where they want to be and ultimately, the steps required of how to get there… wherever they may be.

9 years experience within education, trained to support children and their families alongside a background in psychology and counselling. I thrive in supporting and empowering individuals to achieve the best possible outcome for themselves. I recognise that the routine of small everyday wins are what leads us to contentment. Through growing up with neglect, facing homelessness as a teenager, and surviving divorce I have gained a deep understanding of how we can successfully navigate life's chaos and really trust ourselves.

Reviews
As a dad, you are expected to just handle everything. Work pressure, school issues, keeping it all together at home. I didn’t want therapy just needed to talk to someone who understood what it’s like to carry it all quietly.
My Maambo conversation felt like speaking to someone who genuinely ‘got it’. No judgement. No awkwardness. I left feeling lighter and clearer.
James, Father of Two
Co-parenting can feel incredibly isolating. You are constantly balancing emotions, logistics and your children’s wellbeing often while swallowing your own feelings.
Speaking to someone on Maambo who had navigated co-parenting themselves made all the difference. It wasn’t advice from a textbook. It was lived experience which I now appreciate so much more. I felt heard in a way I hadn’t before.
Sarah, Mum & Co-Parent
When I was diagnosed with lung cancer, everything changed overnight. The appointments, the terminology, the fear but what surprised me most was how alone I felt.
I needed to talk to someone who understood what it’s like to sit with that news and still show up for your family.
My Maambo conversation gave me something I didn’t realise I was missing. Which was steady, human understanding. It didn’t take the diagnosis away, but it made it feel less isolating.
David, Recently Diagnosed
Going through a divorce is isolating in ways I never expected.
I feel judged by my friends. I really needed someone to would understand me. My Maambo mentor had lived through something similar, and that changed everything.
I could say the things I felt guilty saying out loud.
From the first conversation I began to feel steady again and more like myself.

I was always on Tinder. Numerous dates but got no real connection. Maambo helped me realise I wasn't looking for love, i was looking to get my ego boosted. My mentor Lucy didn't judge me she listened and helped me understand why I was so lonely in spite of having many dates.
Charles from Kent
After a month of regular sessions, I’m starting to feel lighter & my loved ones are starting to notice the difference in me slowly too, which is really lovely. I had an instant connection with my mentor Poppy, she's so lovely & really gentle too. I feel so comfortable.
